I'm doing my damnedest to be an ally, but I've also been abused by someone I thought was a friend. I still support their nonbinary status, but I promise, I will never be around them again. Current world events demonstrate, if you want allies, don't betray them.
No. One person being an asshole doesn't give you permission to put all non-binary people "on notice". The one thing is not related to the other. Sorry you had that awful experience. Truly sorry.
Ooooh, you misunderstood my use of their pronouns. That individual uses they/them. I wasn't generalizing about other people.
What are you talking about? You're ascribing things to me that I absolutely did not imply.
I am disagreeing with the notion that I cannot say "but".
I am an ally. The fact that a former friend abused me and others means that I'm never going to take their calls again. If they are in trouble, I'll never know. It's hard to be an ally to someone when they've made themselves intolerable to be around.
I never once generalized.
