I picked up a map somewhere. I don't remember how or when. According to the wiki, there is a chance to discover a quest while reading it; that is, it's not immediate and automatic the first time someone reads it. As I said, I don't remember how long it's been in the colony, and I'd like to sell it if I've learned all I can about the quest. The problem is, I don't know how to tell whether that's true. Any tips?

The wiki does not contradict their advice: Forcing a pawn to read does not immediately discover the location, but it does guarantee that someone is making progress towards the discovery.

It's a vague memory, but I think selecting a book/map tells you if there's anything left to learn from it.

Ah, so their advice was just to read it until either the quest is discovered or until it's been so long that it's probably not going to happen (the implication then being that it already has)? Ok, still not an answer I was hoping for.

Other research tasks like the mineral scanner, etc. show progress while the job is being performed, and so I checked the pawn and the item while it was being read when my question first occurred to me. I did not check the full-detail screen for the map, however (if that's what you were suggesting). I'm away from my computer this week, but I'll try that and then searching for the item in the save file.

I've checked the item details and no joy: That screen shows fewer details than for any other item type, pretty much just market value, hit points, and beauty
