As a dane, this explains a lot with all the weird stuff you hear about the US these days.
US society is fundamentally broken and has been for a long time.
heavily polarized by troll farm propaganda from fox, right wing grifters and russia. russia sole reason is to provide a division in the us. its no wonder they suddenly appeared on reddit as bots around 2016, when there was barely any mention of significant politics posts, for a while before the pandemic subs were allowing pure right wing articles to be posted(in r/politics(.
remember conspiracy sub, prior to trump it wasnt filled with so much bs as it is now.
All of those things only fanned the flames that were already burning in this country since its inception.
American culture has always been rotten to its core. Just go read any leftist author and their analysis of American society over the last century.
america has always been right wing country even when it began, i dont expect anything to change, unless america goes to an actual war on thier soils like with the EU(WW1+2). THATS why conservatives from all over the world flock to the states this is thier last refuge.
We came close to a working class movement at the beginning of the 1900s, but the wars took over priority and, with the loss of momentum, we were quickly pacified by an owning-class that did everything in its power to demonize communism in the minds of the people through things like McCarthyism.
We absolutely can change this society. We just need to start organizing again like they did in the past, with actual goals and an understanding of theory and praxis instead of these pissant weekend walks begging the system to listen.
