The pace at which Ukrainian troops make decisions on the battlefield has increased: they carry out immediate military tasks without waiting for decisions from headquarters, according to General Jennie Carignan, the Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada, who said that at the 18th annual Kyiv Security Forum held under the theme “Darkness or Dawn: Is Light Ahead?”

"Thanks to available communication and connectivity technologies, as well as the speed at which data is transmitted to various locations on the battlefield, the pace of decision-making has increased significantly," said Carignan, speaking about the human aspect of Ukrainian achievements on the battlefield.

She noted that the success and innovation of Ukrainian fighters are impressive.

"On the battlefield, young leaders can make quick decisions and carry out immediate military tasks. They don’t wait for a decision from headquarters," she concluded.

Meanwhile, Canadian Armed Forces reach highest recruitment in 30 years.

“Growing our ranks is essential to meeting Canada’s defence commitments at home and alongside our allies abroad," Carignan says, adding that this is "how we will ensure the Canadian Armed Forces remains ready today—and prepared for the challenges ahead.”
