"Israel does not have a right to exist because it commits mass murder against its neighbours" doesn't sound all that zionist to me? They quite literally provide a reason why Israel shouldn't exist, no?
There is no peaceful way Israel, a state built on colonizing someone else's land, can exist in the world. The only peaceful and acceptable solution is for Palestine to exist as it's own independent nation, as it did before. The idea that Israel can acceptably exist as an ethnostate is inherently Zionist.
Okay, but Kaplan isn't actually stating that that is possible, are they? They just said that in a hypothetical scenario where it can peacefully exist (perhaps not as an ethnostate) they wouldn't mind it existing. But they've not said they believe that to be possible, and they fully agree that Israel in its current state does not have a right to exist. I'm not convinced that this is a pro-zionist statement.
There is no purpose in doing some hypothetical scenario. Israel's existence is dependent on settler colonialism. it is dependent on the displacement of Palestine in one way or another. Settler colonialism is an act of violence no ifs ands or butts.
There is no point in debating a hypothetical world where Israel exists without colonialism, because that's not the world we live in and it never will be. This is a Zionist talking point that people like MrKaplan use to justify support for Israel, and that you are unwittingly falling for and defending.
But he's not exactly arguing the hypothetical scenario or at any point claiming that it is indeed possible. So it sounds like he just agrees with you?
I still do not see how "Israel does not have a right to exist because it's ethnically cleansing its neighbours" could possibly considered a zionist statement. It's really grasping at straws for me, sorry.
Also the people preventing a state of equal rights to exist, are the Zionists, as it's been since the beginning. Their hypothetical completely ignores the reality of both the Zionist project and the resistance.
