I don't think you understand the fuction of mindfulness, it is a practice that take you out of the midst of turmoil and reaction into the unjudging present. Unles you are actively in physical danger, the present is the temperature of the air, the color of the light, the texture of the ground. By grounding yourself in the physical world you calm your thoughts and emotions. When I am in the midst of depress or an anxiety attack, being told to "be more hopeful" doesn't help. Now having hope in the medium to long term is vital to a healthy mind set, but mindfulness serves a different purpose entirely. Maybe I should put it this way. Mindfulness can take you out of an immediate emotional bad spot, but hope lets you look to get to a better spot.
