This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

V for Vendetta in 2038 is eerily similar to what's happening right now. The UK is slowly turning into a surveillance state with all of the biometric scans and digital ID that the government is trying to organize. Oh, and don't forget those facial recognition cameras that are popping up in public places throughout England and Wales.

Tbf, that's been a thing for a long time now. Still feel much freer living here than the US.

But if we're giving it a generous timeline of accumulating effects, then yeah I'd say 2038 is probably accurate for when the other shoe finally drops lol

Democracy in the UK is already kind of dying. At this point the UK government is just doing whatever they want (such as laws which weren't on the manifesto) and completely ignoring the people when they petition against it.

Also they predicted conservatives would be the ones implementing this oppressive government while shouting about God and immigrants pretty well.

Well the thing is, a lot of the stuff the current UK government are doing wasn't actually on the manifesto. Even the people who voted for them had no idea this would happen.

Did they choose 2038 because of the Unix date issue?

It would be a very weird coincidence, but I think the 2038 regime is mostly an internet-born conspiracy theory.

Yeah I’m going to start to try and figure outta which camera these are and just stealing and destroying them.
