I hear you. For our setting, magic was a survival tool. The first ones to figure out that the city-flattening chunks of moon were magical ended up being the first druids, and their whole job is to keep the planet alive. Turns out, your moon turning into a giant rocky ring is REALLY bad for the climate.
Second people to figure out magic were wizards. Apparently, if you do some really crazy math, you can trick rocks into breaking reality for you.
It's weird that your character is completely random and you have no say in who they are. Half the fun of TTRPGs is designing the characters.
It is annoying, to be sure, and I feequently curse whoever designed this stupid game. Although the most common theory is that it wasn't actually designed by anyone at all, so I guess I have no one to be mad at. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
But as annoying as customizing my character has been, I do feel awfully connected to her now in a way I didn't when I first started. I still wouldn't recommend it, exactly, but I've made my peace with it now and i'm pretty darn proud of what i've accomplished.
