Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
  8. All Lemmy.World Terms of Service apply.

Or maybe I just don’t like genocide.

Maybe all genocides are bad. Is that difficult to understand for some reason?

[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Who did you vote for in the 2024 US presidential election?

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Harris. Why does that matter? Am I pure enough to think genocide is wrong?

[–] EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Because it means you at least tried to mitigate the harm. Most people who took that stance said that people shouldn't bother voting at all because voting for either was supporting genocide.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

No, that only exists in your head because you are a crazed rabid party zombie. Normal human being progressives think genocide is bad. It’s really fucking weird that you don’t.

[–] EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone -3 points 2 months ago

Says the judgemental accusation throwing nut job. I'm a socialist with no love for the Democrats, only people who actually care about making things better.

Where did I ever imply in my comment that I think genocide is good? I merely explained that many people used the "both sides support genocide" as an argument for not voting or voting for Trump. Just like the weirdos who voted for Trump instead of Hillary in 2016 because actively supporting that dumpster-fire was somehow the best choice in their mind after Bernie got shafted by the Dems in the primary. Or the "both sides" centrism that's actually just conservatism in a mask.

It was a campaign to sow voter disenfranchisement into progressives. And it worked. I saw it online, and I saw it in real life. That's why they asked you who you voted for. Because actual people decided that the best course of action when forced to choose between genocide and genocide with an extra side of evil was to throw a tantrum, vote for neither and let somebody else choose which of the two would run the country, and then shame anybody who did vote for Harris for voting for genocide.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I mean, that's certainly how pro-genocide centrists interpret all criticism.

$20 says they’re not a US voter

[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Neither am I. But my country is one of many negatively impacted by the orange turd.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago

Right, which is the reason everyone gives when they hold forth at great length on the nature and vicissitudes of US politics.

Many are happy to be confused with a US voter. For reasons.

Oh so you’re literally a non-American troll. Way to out yourself dumbass.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

lol yea go on the attack to hide the fact that you just outed yourself. Such a predictable bunch you foreign agitators are.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

I’m more American than you. But since you’re convinced I’m not, go nuts. Moron.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ah, I see that when you are confronted with reality you just reject it so you can continue masturbating to how you’re the only person on earth who is smart.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com -3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

So how's that panning out for you now?

[–] spacesatan@leminal.space 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

'Wouldn't you have preferred the genocide with mock pearl clutching instead of glee'

No not really.

'Wouldn't you prefer a DNC and democratic establishment that believes it can win elections with genocidal conservative candidates that ignore the left wing of the party'

Also no.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I don’t understand the question. I still don’t like genocide. Do you?

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

So in your opinion did you get less genocide?

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It sure seems like you’re setting up for some bullshit gotcha that’s really clever in your head. The sheer quantity of assumptions you have made about me for saying that I think genocide is bad is baffling.

Genocide is bad. Say it with me.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com -3 points 2 months ago

Seems you can't answer a simple question without feeling persecuted.

Blocked

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Did your demands for fealty to netanyahu by proxy result in less genocide?

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I blasphemed against the religion of every centrist, so he blocked me.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world -3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

So you actively campaigned for more of it. Sounds like you fucked yourself. Is that so hard to understand?

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

When did I do that? Show me on the doll.

Funny how you can only win arguments against your imaginary friends.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

When you failed to do the one thing to defeat literal demented fascism.

That’s when. You want to tell us you voted for Harris now? No? Hmm.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I voted for Harris.

I also tried to warn you genocidal fucks that she would lose if she kept supporting genocide. None of you wanted her to stop; you just wanted the forced silence of everyone who had a problem with genocide.

And still do.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

So you actively campaigned for more of it.

"see, by saying anything bad at all about genocide, you're actually at fault for genocide!" - people who demand silent acquiescence to the genocidal.
