Rules:

- Articles must be relevant to US politics and contain quality and original content. Social Media adjacent hosts like Substack are allowed, but ONLY if they tie back to a company/subsidiary. No personal or friend group blogs and no self-promotion. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and re-hosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing other users of being bots or paid actors.
- No memes, trolling, misinformation, or low-effort posts/comments (including reposts). If you see posts like this that anger you, do not engage. Report, block, and live a happier life than they do. Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users. The reason(s) behind moderator action(s) are publicly available through the Modlog.

Does that mean that the majority of Trump voters approve of Trump's gas prices? A nation of masochists, apparently.
High gas prices are a pittance if we can bring Jesus back! (I wish this were a joke).
If he can turn water into wine, then by god we can waterboard that Palestinian until he turns it into ethanol for our cars.
There was an article a few weeks ago where folks were interviewed at a gas station in Pennsylvania. Two of the Trump voters who was fine with the higher prices said it was an acceptable price to pay to keep the nation safe. They really thought Iran was going to attack the US, possibly with nukes.

Ofc this disinformation is central to the hegemonic narrative and widely disseminated by NPR, NYTimes, etc. Not to mention the overtly fascist media.
Some of his supporters will accept anything with a smile as long as it's their side doing it. Some are so drowned in right wing media bullshit that they might as well be living in a parallel universe. And some will just be so averse to criticizing Trump (particularly in a poll which is likely to have political remifications) that they'll defend or ignore almost anything bad, even if they do hate it.
Yep. Just like some are only on the Trump train because they're afraid of the social ramifications of saying anything bad about him.
In some circles, saying a single bad word about Trump will get you ostracized, shunned, and perhaps even targeted by violence.
They would let Trump take a shit in their mouths if they thought a Dem would have to smell it.
"I'd rather vote for a Russian than a Democrat".
"It's a sacrifice we have to make to get _______"
They just have to convince themselves that every bad thing is worth it in the long run because Trump is doing such a wonderful job on "X". Their propaganda channel / site of choice just tells them why their sacrifice is necessary.
Imperial media obscures the connection. I heard NPR talking about higher gas prices with ZERO mention of trump/iran. And, if they do mention it, they usually blame Iran at least implicitly but often explicitly.
