We should derail the trolley if it can only go forward at varying speeds.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe living on a planet where people are constantly tied to trolley tracks was a mistake.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Well they weren't always tied to the tracks, that's a newish development.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Then who tied them there?

I blame agriculture.

David Graeber's "Debt: the First 5000 Years" and "Dawn of Everything" pretty much covers this in its entirety.

I only tie people up with their consent.

what are the odds i find the one other person in the state with a snively whiplash kink, and it's the other tie-er

[–] SPRUNT@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

When weren't they tied to the tracks? And who is the "they"?

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

so you're choosing to hurt one person (conductor) to save many (people tied to the rails)

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yes, the conductor (ruling class) is the one in charge of the trolley. They’re free to stop the trolley and hop off if they want to live.

Deontology Is for self-serving pricks.

[–] zikzak025@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

That conductor knows what he did.
