After seeing their DLSS 5.0 Im just never spending money on NVIDIA again

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That‘s funny because I firmly believe they showcased DLSS5 at that time in this state only to cover up news coverage about their Palantir partnership and passionate support for Israel. It was genius.

[–] Goodeye8@piefed.social 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well that's easily disproven by the fact that they boldly put "Nvidia ❤ Palantir ❤ Dell" in the same GTK Keynote. They don't care about hiding their Palantir partnership because all they see from that partnership are $$$. DLSS5 was showcased because the AI hype is dying down and at this point Nvidia stock lives on the AI hype. Nvidia stock 3 years ago (which was the early stages of the AI hype) was ~$28, now it's ~$174. We're about the experience another one of those once in a lifetime economic crashes when the AI hype dies down and Nvidia stock plummets.

Not to mention that the average consumer probably has no clue what palantir is or even that it exists.

After seeing their graphics card prices and the corners they cut and the gouging, same. Bought a 2070s new in 2019. Next card if I can ever afford one again is definitely AMD lol. Plus the Linux support is just so much better.

RTX remix is for modders.

Quite frankly, I would not mind having DLSS 5 in architecture games like House Flipper, where doing a quick and dirty illustration without diving into pro software with massive subscription fees or overcomplicated workflows.

Not to mention, the hyperrealism would fit the simulator genre like The Bus or Truck Simulator.

The point is that NVIDIA decided to inject AI slop into their product and in that single move ruined their entire reputation in my eyes. I dont need a cozy game AI-Slopified into "photo realism" especially when its the AI version of that, a style that is distinct and offensive to me.

Any modders using AI like this are also modders whos content Ill never download or support. Its pretty simple, I dont want any slop in my games. I dont want to pay for slop in my games. Anyone asking me to do so gets written off.

Nvidia are making $750 million a day... I think they'll cope 🤣

[–] YoFrodo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Oh they are coping alright, theyve already had to make public comments that "consumers just dont get it"

They are gargantuan, but public opinion still matters and the only thing I can actually do is bring up how stupid they are for this AI garbage in public forums and refuse to buy their products ever again. Im not going to keep these opinions to myself simply because they make a lot of money.
