I know it's partly because conservative voters pretend to care about the economy, and for whatever reason their primary metrics for judging its health seem to be the price of gas and eggs, but I really wish we could stop framing the destruction we are causing throughout the world solely in terms of how much it now costs us to fill up our cars. It makes me almost hope we see an actual invasion on US soil just so we'll realize that war costs much more than a few extra bucks at the gas pump. That's not a healthy or sustainable attitude for an entire society to have, to say the least.
