Voyager Gothic’s a fun piece, but for what it’s worth, Latent Image does a good job of putting us in the Doctor’s ~~shoes~~ holo emitters.
“Who you going to save Doc, the eternal ensign we all know and love, or the person who’s apparently been here the whole time but just hasn’t left a huge impression?”
And he bemoans himself for picking based on familiarity. The fucked up thing is that there's no real resolution. He's still recuperating in the holodeck when the credits role.
“Here begins a new life.”
Sometimes there’s no real resolution. Just moving forward.
