Smart though. Because rather than be like rage-filled Lemmy's, who can't stop ai anyway, he embraced it and is now going to profit big from it. Ride the wave or be drowned by the wave. Pick one.
ai isn't going anywhere. There's an entire generation of school kids coming up who don't mind it. And they'll be be adults in 5 to 8 years. So it's here to stay.
News orgs use it. Music companies use it. TV show companies use it. Movie companies use it. Writers use it. Programmers use it. Advertisers use it. Apps use it. Shopping orgs use it. Shipping companies use it. Government employees use it.
Heck, I use it to help me buy stocks and crypto and I profited big time using ai.
So whatcha gonna do about that? How will you have any impact on that? If the vast majority of people on earth will be using it every day, except for a handful of Lemmys who get mad about it, what can ya do?
Having and joining a dozen luddite anti-ai communities on Lemmy will not have any impact on it whatsoever. In fact, people will make money off of it, while Lemmy complains. Is that really the best use of your time?
I disagree that because everyone else does something it makes it the right or smart thing to do.
I get that. But do you realize that you won't be able to avoid it? Honest question. By calling people who use it, "cunts" or hating on it all day, what does that accomplish? If you are the lone hold out, you get left behind. Others profit.
Which is fine if you wanna be the one left behind. The amish choose to leave most of modern technology behind. But they didn't stop tech. And you won't stop ai.
So I'm curious on what it is that you disagree about? Do you think that there is going to be a wave of opposition and that the world will stop using ai? You think China will stop using ai? You think the entire world would agree on not using ai?
If the US magically stopped using it, we'd just lose more and more tech advances to China. And you and I both know, the whole world doesn't agree on anything. And China def ain't gonna stop advancing ai.
So I am genuinely curious what you think is accomplished by calling people cunts because they profit from ai. You sound like the people that hated on CGI when it came out, but have no problem buying and playing videogames that use it, because it made it to the products you enjoy.
So I am curious of what you think is gonna happen.
