The icon in the app selector and taskbar thing are both the proper chrome logo, but when I open the window it shows like this.

This is on KDE, on fedora.

(It's ungoogled chrome, don't suggest installing firefox to me.)

A different icon theme would be the first stop. The other possibility, if you wish to keep the icon theme. Is to download a PNG or SVG of the icon you want. And then edit the shortcuts icon to point to it.
