Rules

  1. Please stay on-topic: post about otome games. Otome games are romance games aimed at women who want to romance men. For the purposes of this community, games with female love interests (LIs) count as long as it isn't mostly female LIs: men should be at least half of the LI options. Note that you do not have to be a straight woman to post: people outside the target demographic play too, and you are welcome here. Amare games will be allowed given how small the community on the Fediverse is for it, and how they overlap with otome, but if the community starts to overwhelmingly have non-otome amare posts I reserve the right to change this rule and redirect those posts to a new amare community.
  2. In an effort to keep this community more discussion-based, please only post fanart and the like if you made the art yourself. Your own fanart, cosplays, etc. are very welcome.
  3. Don’t be a jerk.

3a. No bigotry or discrimination. This includes but is not limited to homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.

3b. Be respectful of other peoples’ tastes. You may absolutely despise an LI and want to discuss it, and that’s fine. Casting negative aspersions on or directly insulting people who love that LI is not fine. What we find interesting in fiction does not always directly translate to real-life desires.

  1. Please don’t directly link to pirated content.
  2. Tag any NSFW content as such. If you are not sure whether to tag it that way, err on the side of caution and tag.
  3. Please indicate spoilers. The following format works on both Lemmy and Kbin, but if you are using an app it may not. See this comment for which apps handle spoilers. Note that spoilers in post bodies will just show the text in the preview if you link the post in, say, Discord, instead of spoiling it.
Spoilers for OtomeGame: The GameSomething that happened at the end of the game! Something else that happened at the end of the game!

That will appear as:

7. When advertising something you have worked on (think your own otome review website, or an otome game you have worked on), please use common sense for what is spammy. If there's about four new posts here weekly, don't post a progress update weekly—we don't want self-promotion overwhelming the community. But finding new otome creators is cool, so do post them here every once in awhile! I reserve the right to change this rule to be more specific about what exactly counts as spammy and what does not, but I feel I'll know it when I see it and trust most posters to operate in good faith.

Our backup community is [email protected].

Q: Why is this needed?A: TL;DR: We have had to start over a lot due to instances dying.

  1. First, otome on Lemmy/Mbin started with Kbin, at [[email protected]](/c/[email protected]), which went down when kbin.social had federation issues and eventually went down.
  2. Then we moved to [[email protected]](/c/[email protected]), which went down when kbin.run unexpectedly vanished.
  3. So we moved again to [email protected], where we can hopefully stay. If not, we jump to…
  4. [email protected].

Finally got around to creating the backup community in case this goes down!

The backup community won't have any posts unless this main one goes down. (I can guarantee this because it's locked down to just mods being allowed to make posts—aka, me, aka Elevator7009.) If the main community goes down, I will post about it on the backup community and reenable posting for everyone there. So you can safely subscribe to both the main instance and the backup instance without getting spammed. Only one will ever be active at a time.

Why a backup community?

Almost made the title "no console warring here!" both because I (thankfully) rarely see that attitude in otome communities and it feels more appropriate for the picture, but I figure I ought to lead with the question so people can actually answer.

I asked in this community before what your favorite platform to play otome on was, but that is a different question from what you actually use most often to play otome. What do you play otome on most often and does it match your favorite platform for it?

Found this. Never heard of it before, I figure it's a few enthusiasts putting something together and hey, that's what this community is too! It has news and judging by the "ONLY Otome Hub You'll Ever Need!" recommendation for the title when I pasted in the URL, they are probably trying to be a center for otome information. Figured I'd check it out a bit.

For instance, things like personality, backstory, appearance, role in the story, how their romance progresses… I know there is a huge subset of yandere fans out there and I've seen some indie games catered specifically towards it (yandere otome games), and I'm curious if something like that exists for other LI tropes too. If there is a game full of all tsunderes, meganes, villains, people with traumatic backstories…

Developers/Publishers HuneX and Dramatic Create revealed today on their social media as well as in the March edition of B’s-Log magazine, that the otome game Arcana Famiglia Rinsto will be released on July 24, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch. The game will include Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options, while voiceovers will remain in Japanese. The game will also have a Steam version which will be announced at a later date.

This title is a port of Arcana Famiglia -La storia della Arcana Famiglia- Ancora, which was originally released on the PS Vita in 2015.

Only thing I changed was switching the Twitter link to an alternative frontend.

I always enjoy reading peoples' thoughts on otome. Full disclosure, I also got this out of the Self-Promotion Sunday on r/otomegames. I figured a person who seems to be trying to be a new creator of otome-related content (in this case reviews) could use a boost, especially since the only consistent reviewers I can think of off the top of my head are otomekitten and blerdyotome.
