This is a community for older furs. I will try to post something here each day related to greymuzzles or something otherwise nostalgic. Feel free to make your nostalgia posts or post anything related to greymuzzles. This includes discussions on greymuzzles' place in the fandom, how Furry has changed/stayed the same through the years, and those darn kids.

Here goes my first post on Lemmy ever...

Does anyone remember FurryMUCK and Furcadia? They were some of the earliest furry themed exploration games out there and I sank hours into each one back in the day. My furry friend circle overlapped with Dr Cat, the creator of Furcadia and his apartment was once the epicenter of the fandom in central Texas. I really do miss those times - lots of extremely talented, friendly, and weird-in-a-good-way folks gathered there. It was a giant brain trust of people that once worked at Origin Systems on games like Ultima and Wing Commander.

In cleaning up some stale directories on my homelab I ran across the last archive of my old Furcadia character which led me down the proverbial rabbit hole. It turns out the game still exists and I think I might rejoin again.

Anyone else have memories playing these or similar furry games? Got any modern ones you like today?

VCL (Velan Central Library/Vixen Controlled Library) was a major early gathering place for furry art and stories. The original site went down some years ago but this archive remains.

The first openly "furry" musician I ever heard of. He wasn't prolific but I always liked his music.

He ran the Furry Music Foundation and appeared on several compilation cd's.

AFAIK he's still alive.

What has been your favorite Adult Swim show? Went back recently to see what they were showing to set my DVR, and started rewatching Cowboy Bebop.

I've had many over three years, but Cowboy Bebop was definitely the first one that got my attached to watch Adult Swim.

So when your out and about what of this current world reminds you of something from your childhood that you have tried to get a youngfur into? May it be outdated hobby, entertainment of the past, or simply something that isn't as popular anymore?

For me it's been Super Nintendo video games, and shows from the 80s. For instance I know Netflix killed it, but I've gotten a few of this century to get into Jim Henson things of the 80s. Specifically Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. But I have themed nights that helps introduces these things.

In the 90s, when I was underage and looking at furry stuff, I used the character Ox from Breath of Fire as a fursona. It was common for people to go as TrunksX or Vegeta999 or some other anime character. I was also going as a dragon called Dark Holy, which was a shapeshifting mana beast/black dragon. Then I came up with "Mutable Beast," which was a werelion in the 2000s. In the early 2010s, I used the Hypnobeast lion fursona to promote my hypnotherapy business. In the last few years, I've returned to Dragon with my old gamertag, Stellario.

My beard has a white streak, but that's about it. Do you have any white/gray hairs yet? Do you want any?

For me, it was the OG Nintendo Entertainment System, NES. My first game was Super Mario Brothers and Duckhunt. I still refer to any switch as a "gameboy."

@greymuzzle This parody is just too real. I bet this song would have been a hit when I was a kid: https://tech.lgbt/@catdad/110810883649424081
