As Palestinians released from #Israeli imprisonment recount torture and other abuse suffered at the hands of their former captors, the Trump administration on Friday approved a new $3 billion weapons package for #Israel.

The new package, reported by Zeteo's Prem Thakker, includes nearly $2.716 billion worth of bombs and weapons guidance kits, as well as $295 million in bulldozers.

"Trump has given tacit approval to Israeli actions since the ceasefire came into effect on January 19. More than 90 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks. Israel has also violated the ceasefire by obstructing the delivery of heavy machinery to start clearing away rubble; preventing the delivery of mobile homes and tents to temporarily shelter the people of Gaza, especially in the almost totally destroyed north; delaying the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners; and now by refusing to leave the Philadelphi Corridor.

All of this has taken place without comment from Washington. Trump has gotten what he most wanted in the short term, a ceasefire and more hostages freed. He may well see all the remaining Israeli hostages returned home, and that will be his victory. "

"In Gaza, CNN footage from the European Hospital in Khan Younis showed three prisoners arrive in ambulances to the intensive care unit, where they were greeted by loved ones.

One prisoner, who was embraced by his son, was provided with oxygen, while another appeared very weak.

Others who disembarked from Red Cross buses also appeared weak and thin, with some having difficulty walking.

One freed man was welcomed by his wife and children, who cried as they hugged him tightly. “I was so afraid. Every day I prayed that they were doing well,” he said. "

"The first phase of the deal between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and exchange of captives is set to expire on Saturday, March 1, after what is supposed to be the final exchange on Thursday of the bodies of four Israeli captives for the freedom of several hundred Palestinians held by Israel. But, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu engaged in an active campaign to sabotage the internationally brokered deal that officially went into effect on January 19, the future of the deal is anything but certain."
