This is also why Musk wants control of payment. Shutter the office and stop paying. "See they weren't fired, they left when we stopped paying them."

The legal term for this is constructive termination, i.e. fabricating a situation in which the natural result would be an employee leaving.

People with kids at home might not like it but wasting time on that commute is cancer.
