Russia has imposed a new tariff on a category of imports from China, an ally that has been a crucial lifeline for Moscow since President Vladimir Putin's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Ah, nothing says ‘no-limits partnership’ like slapping your BFF with a 55% tariff. Truly the hallmark of a bromance built to last—until everyone’s squatting on the floor.

I really wish journalists would get that phrase right. It’s not “Russia hits China with Tariffs” it’s “Russian hits its own citizens with a 55% tax on some Chinese goods”

I don't know what I was expecting... but furniture fittings?

They decided right now was a perfect time to add a tariff on furniture fittings?

I'm laughing but like, uh, okay I guess then?

Specifically, sliding rail assemblies. And it's not even a new tariff, they're just ending a previous reduction so that it's back in line with other products in that category. This really doesn't need to be as big a deal as it's being made out to be.

The funny thing is, apparently Russia doesn't produce them domestically, and the special low rate still applies to European sources, so now they're going to import them from Europe, apparently.

This seems like a strange decision.

It's just Putin and trump whispering to each other in bed.
