Lemmy has proven to me that tankies have more in common with right wingers than liberals.
Yeah that's the thing about authoritarians; they don't have a problem with the boot, they just want it to be on the other foot. No better. Different axis, but the political compass looks more like a triangle than a square to me.
Tankies are the ideological opposite but intellectual equivalent of libertarians, and it says a lot about society that anyone subscribes to either after high school.

Politicians are one of the few remaining ways to become wealthy in USA, if you're not born with a fortune it's much easier to become rich via politics than working a normal job.

A conservative democrat is a democrat in name only.
Most democrats, especially the leadership, are conservative. The few who aren't are outliers.
The Democrat party is both conservative and right wing, and it continuously shifts further in those directions as a result of being the only party to give concessions to other side as a method of "meeting in the middle". This also allows the ultra far right party to keep shifting further and further right because in order to have controlled opposition there must be some small differences.
