So you'd need an ID to buy a phone to stop scammers even though the scammers live in countries that don't have that restriction and can keep doing things exactly the same. What's next? I'll need an ID to put gas in my car so they can stop illegal immigrants from driving?

Just like with "fight csam" ... always just an excuse
