Bacon, cucumber, tomato sandwiches. Serious questions were asked to decide if we could really afford bacon.

Cost per person, $4

Legit sandwich, cucumber kinda levels it up over lettuce IMO

I hope you enjoyed it!

We have given up on lettuce on most sandwiches. Cucumber is the superior flavor crunch.

Not available in my food desert.

Containers, soil, and seeds. Be your own oasis. 💚

I planted 200 different seeds from a dozen different plants this year. Arugula wasn't even in the running. Not enough calories, long term storage options, no free seeds from the library, and anything close to lettuce has a bad habit of bolting way too early here. Mustards and collards do much better here. In fact I have a volunteer mustard this year.

Mustard greens work well for a sandwich too.

Cool. I love gardening. Hope you are friends with other gardeners for clippings and sharing the harvest and seeds.

That looks very delicious, I love that you always use lots of veggies!

Not enough.

I'd trade bacon for avocado in a heartbeat

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I love it with bacon and avocado. But avocado wasn't in the budget and this craving would have had to gone unanswered for a few days until the avocado ripened.

That like an everything bagel style bread crust? looks good, as much as I like bacon, it would be very good without, too.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Some kind of seeded sandwich bread at Aldi's. $3.99 a loaf. I've got half of it left and will probably do chicken salad on it in a day or two. I think it will be even better than the bacon option.

Looks like sesame, black sesame, linseed and sunflower seed

That looks amazing!

A++. Would eat.

[–] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'll have to try cucumbers instead of lettuce. Sounds tasty.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Cut them into planks so they don't slide off your sandwich.

Looks like a fantastic sandwich, cucumber is the devil's scum-sausage though, and that sandwich is rolling an awful lot of it. 1 star.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I know some of those words.

♪ Anything cukes can do pickles do better ♫

[–] rainwall@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Pickles are less crunchy and carry their own flavor. Pleasant as that flavor is, its not the clean, vegetatative flavor of raw cucumber.

Those pepperoncinis on the side got that good vinegar tang covered.

Does this man even pickle?
