In Backpack hero main character is a mouse with a backpack :)
Video Game Suggestions
A place to find suggestions for video games! For example, you might create a post looking for recommendations for a game to play with a friend, or a game that is easy to play if you just broke your dominant hand. Or you might post a list of games that let you use a whip as a weapon. A lot of rules for conduct here are pretty obvious (don't be a jerk, stay on-topic) so I'll bold the weird ones.
Rules
- Please stay on-topic: post requests for games that match some criteria you specify, lists of games with a certain element, or something otherwise relevant to helping people find games that match certain criteria.
- If you're looking to find the name of a particular game or video game series you forgot, you should go to !TipOfMyJoystick@retrolemmy.com. This community is for fielding suggestions for games, not for finding one specific video game.
- If you're making a post that is suggesting games, it should be a list of games. This is partially to help prevent the community from being overrun by people just suggesting their favorite game, and devs suggesting you play their latest game. This is about posts, not comments. It's okay to comment on a post asking for gaming suggestions with just one game.
- Don’t be a jerk. This covers bigotry and discrimination, which includes but is not limited to homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.
- Please don’t directly link to pirated content.
- When advertising something you have worked on, please use common sense for what is spammy. Self-promotion isn't totally banned: if someone asked for an RPG where you can play a lich, and the game you worked on is an RPG where you can play a lich, you can definitely answer with your RPG. I reserve the right to change this rule to be more specific about what exactly counts as spammy and what does not, but I feel I’ll know it when I see it and trust most posters to operate in good faith.
- Please indicate spoilers when necessary. The following format works on both Lemmy and Kbin, but if you are using an app it may not. See this comment for which apps handle spoilers. Note that spoilers in post bodies will just show the text in the preview if you link the post in, say, Discord, instead of spoiling it.

Magazine/community icon is the Apple video game emoji and green checkmark emoji for now. Suggestions for a replacement are very welcome.
ChuChu Rocket!: action puzzle game where the objective is to place arrows on a board to lead mice into escape rockets while avoiding cats.
Rodent's Revenge

This game featured in my wife's and my becoming close to each other. I would say heavily, it felt so at the time, but when I was getting to know her every emotion seemed heavy - good and bad. Realistically, she and our kid are two of the best things to ever happen to me, but this game probably didn't have much to do with it.
I remember that if you, the mouse, got caught by the cat, you'd turn into not the traditional "less than three" heart, but something that more resembled an ampersand and angled bracket. I am very sleep deprived and can't find a screenshot or video supporting that, but I will adamantly defend the claim, even if I find out it was an invented memory.
My wife, who always liked to be different, would say &> to express her affection when we met. At the time, I told her all of the above (probably in a more abbreviated manner) and, to this day, when we want to say "I love you," we'll sometimes say "mouse hearts" instead. Wouldn't work with anyone else, probably, but then again, I don't want it to.
- Bad Rats: the Rats' Revenge — we're allowed to suggest terrible games, right?
- Moss and Moss: Book II — VR third-person adventure, though I guess you're really playing as a separate character from the mouse
- Sunderfolk — co-op tactics combat with a tiny hint of tabletop RPG influence. One of the playable characters is a jerboa. Does that count?
- Rules & Rodents — grid-based puzzles where you set the rules for how enemies move
- MOUSE: P.I. For Hire — boomer shooter with a noir theme and art style from the golden age of animation
- Mina the Hollower releases this year. It's a top-down action game styled like it's from a Game Boy Color.
- Pipsqueak! is not released but there is a demo. It's a pixel art metroidvania.
Backpack Hero
DarkMouse. Didn't play it but I have it on my radar because something about it speaks to me. Has good reviews.
Simple looking top down soulslike.
Ghost of A Tale is a fantastic game. Really cool little fantasy world they created. Great art direction.
Also Tooth and Tail, RTS where the protagonist army are very Communist coded rats and mice.
de_rats
Bad Rats, but it's really crappy. The kind of crappy where I watched more than one episode of let's play "bad Rats" because it was fun to watch.
