Clickbait headline. Trump's rant demanded that those reporters be tried for treason, is that not a bad enough thing to do, to make a compelling, and truthful, headline?
But no, because one of the possible outcomes of being convicted of treason is the death penalty, the headline says "demands death penalty". Gee, I wonder why the headline doesn't say "demands 5 years in prison", another possible outcome of a treason conviction? Anyone want to take a guess?
Sensationalism is so pathetic.
Trump is the kind of guy that 6th graders on the bus would have to take aside and say "not cool, man" except he's 80 years old.

The guy who launched a violent Insurrection, and stole hundreds of classified documents to sell, might want to keep his mouth shut about Treason. Glass houses and throwing rocks and whatnot.
Uses the word treason quite lightly for someone committing it on a daily basis

Iran does have sea drones, and they have made giant holes in tankers at sea level with them. Iraq claimed that 2 of them were used to turn 2 real tankers into 2 giant fireballs in their harbour. I have seen AI of 20 simultaneous missiles hitting downtown Tel Aviv, but a bigger problem than AI on Israel is that Israel is criminalizing the sharing of strike information, with selective permission after for whining about civilian areas. There is a lot of damage every night in Israel.
Trump said the rallies in big square of Tehran are also fake, and even the hits Israel/Israelis admit to are fake. Same with GCC hits that GCC acknowledges.
If using AI for fake news, there is a Netanyahu video out early today, where his wedding ring fades in and out. He should then give death penalty to IDF/Netanyahu (he could be hiding instead of dead) for fake news.
It is next level, Hitler's bunker, and losing, to be resorting to this level of desperation.

Of course Bill Clinton was one of the best ones, but who is counting THE LAST OK DECADE (90's). Everything was horrible after that. Everyone who was an adult in 2000 knows everything turned to poop.
You're not wrong. The SCROTUS deciding the 2000 election was an early warning sign, then 9/11 came and it just kept getting worse from there.

Midterms ... Impeachment ... then Prison or LEGAL execution upon conviction. Can't say Im spouting threats or violence for that.
You gotta realize none of that will ever happen because the Democrats lack the political will to even make a serious attempt.
And that right there is part of the problem. They want to do nothing, so if we tell them that we expect them to do nothing, they will.
But if we hand them the House AND the Senate in the Midterms, there will be a whole crop of new Dems on Congress who didn't work hard to get there to do nothing. They will wamt to shake things up, and we have to let Congress know that we do NOT expect business as usual. These are unprecedented times, and they require unprecedented solutions. That starts with replacing the MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries, right out of the gate. The Dems will NEVER beat MAGA decisively with those two losers at the helm.
If we hand them the votes, and the investigative committees, then they better use them, or they will be replaced in the next election, and face the same righteous wrath of the citizens that MAGA will face.
Long as him and his enablers are out and unable to return, it makes no real difference to me how its done

TBH I'm sick of DailyBeast and Rawstory showing up in my Lemmy feed. I'd argue they violate this community's "credible sources" rule.
Yeah no, the president saying people should be charged with something thats punishment is death or life in prison is exactly that.. saying those journalists should be put to death or life in prison for what they have written.
It’s tough, because I don’t want to give him or the American justice system the benefit of the doubt, but I really hate the misrepresentation of this in the media. Charging someone with treason doesn’t mean they’ll be imprisoned or executed, it means they’ll be put on trial. If this story had addressed the potential for the president to bias the country against these reporters by calling personally for them to be charged with treason, I would be a lot less annoyed by the headline, but it’s inaccurate and they didn’t put any actual investigation into this piece.
It might be splitting hairs, but I really do wish for exhaustive Nuremberg style trials when I call this regime criminal, treasonous, and genocidal. I wouldn’t mourn if a few of them didn’t make it to trial, but I don’t want them to be able to take their secrets to the grave en masse.
I don’t think you’re splitting hair; you’re being consistent in your values, and journalistic integrity matters more to you than having your biais confirmed.
It doesn’t matter whether the target of this article is the best person in the world or the worst person in the world, their words are not being reported accurately.
I loathe everything Donald Trump stands for, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to misrepresent what he says like that for engagement. There are more than enough appalling things the man does and says on a daily basis to not go that low.
Like someone above wrote, I don’t think daily beast articles have their place here.

Point is, that's not what the quote directly said. And that's what distinguishes journalism, and tabloids like DailyBeast (or talking heads/"analysis" like Fox News). Hence, every actual news outlet on this topic went with a factual headline, and quoted Trump directly instead of making a jump.
This distinction is very important to me. Ragebait like DailyBeast is why Trump is in power and the world sucks now, because it works.
I get your point, but the president saying people should get life in prison if not killed for their 1st amendment right which he swore and oath to uphold would be an absolute reason for an immediate impeachment to most.
