Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

This is precisely the reason why I ditched reddit over lemmy

[–] __curmugeon__@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

These pedophiles think they can intimidate us

I'm so tired of these companies using their market shares to sell their users out without the fear of boycott, reprisal or significant impact on their business.

I've been really enjoying finding alternatives and the feeling of control over my own life I gain every time I switch to one. Then whenever these big guys betray their user base I just laugh.

Digg and MySpace shows what can happen when there is a mass exodus.

Things like this happen slowly then suddenly all at once

[–] johncandy1812@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There were popular alternatives to those at the time that ended up becoming even bigger than them. For some reason the popular ones these days aren't getting swiftly adopted. I think a lot of people might be getting tired of switching platforms all the time.

I think the fact all these companies were named at once is to overwhelm any effort to protest. People might be up for boycotting one company but probably not all of them listed so they end up boycotting none.

To those people, I'd say boycotting some of them is better than none at all.

Same. Every bit helps and it compounds.

Reddit I gave up clicking links to. like I stopped watching Fox News and clicking their links 12 years ago.

Thoughts on the new digg? Needs more people

After getting banned for criticizing gun control in the face of rising fascism I knew it was time to be done with reddit for good. That's a site for bootlickers by bootlickers.

[–] Sine_Fine_Belli@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, well said. I wish more people would use lemmy and piefied more though

Rather than advocating for something against the rules, I'd like to instead advocate for high quality woodworking, blacksmith, and assembly skills. We're going to need many large, wooden assemblies with very sharp and very heavy metal components, powered by gravity, built and displayed prominently very soon, and they need to be functional.

Fuck Reddit and Fuck Spez.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago

Voluntarily?! Your data is not safe. F these companies.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

They are all fascist in how they operate their sites, no surprise they willingly work with their political twins.

[–] KirbyBoi66@lemmy.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

Literally the reason some of us are here lol
