MADD continues to advocate for the implementation of the HALT Drunk Driving Law, which mandates that new vehicles be equipped with lifesaving anti-drunk-driving technology, an innovation that can support law enforcement in their efforts to prevent drunk and impaired driving incidents and save thousands of lives each year.

This reads like they want everybody to have one of those breathalyzer boxes in cars. Fuck that if so, I’ve watched those things refuse to let a car start for several sober people. On top of being a chore to “blow” into correctly. (Maybe they’ve improved? I’ll admit, I don’t know, I’m not consistently exposed to these devices.) If there’s an emergency and one of those refuses to start for a sober people, that feels like too high a failure rate for me.
