I don't understand why it has a power cord. It should be generating it's own energy.
It would be generating energy but there's nothing there to capture it. Most of the steam side was thrown out of the reactor or straight up vaporized.
It did however create and capture and insane power spike before the explosion, iirc like 30 gigawatts on a reactor designed for a maximum rating 10x less than that.
It still needs external power to kick start the supporting systems.
Most npp do not consume the power they generate. I am not sure why, maybe it has to go through some resistors first to be at a managable voltage or something
I hate humidity and therefore humidifiers and I also want one.

So, I'm glad I'm aware of the environmental impact of plastics. I do what I can to minimize my personal use of plastics, as well as reusing what does enter my life as much as possible.
That being said, there is a part of me that wishes I could go back to being ignorant of the problem. This is partly because it's so much bigger than me, and my personal actions are statistically nothing in the face of the petroleum industry. The other part is the 13 year old in me that now has the money to buy the Lego sets he wanted 30 years ago, and the Lego sets available now are freakin amazing. That 13 year old couldn't get the toys he wanted then because of being poor. He can't get them now because of the weight of the knowledge that what is already on my shelf will outlive me 100 times over, and I don't want to add any more plastic to my life
The thing with Lego is that you can pass it on when you pass on. It's well enough made that your kids, or indeed, someone elses kids, will be able to enjoy it when you're done with it. Of all the plastic stuff you could be buying, I reckon Lego isn't one to beat yourself up about.
