Not disparaging anyone (on the contrary I kinda like Punk Rave, I got a couple of their t-shirts) I just thought the historical notes were kinda interesting.

I've always thought the look was intended to look like a poor Victorian who was trying to look fancy.

But whatevs. Both looks are great. I'd be surprised to see a bustle on the street tho.

It's more fantasy than history and that's ok. I mean, it has both Victorian and gothic in it's name, right?

Yeah totally. If I was a clothes historian or something, I'd love to analyze the outfits at the WGT Victorian Picnic over the years and track how they varied between historical, modern, and fantasy. It's the blend that keeps it interesting.

Anyway, I think the historical Victorian styles focus on those folks who had servants to help them dress and do their housework and get them food, etc. and "respectable" women were expected to just... I dunno sit around and smile? It's not like Victorian historical styles focus on field laborers and street urchins. lel kinda reminds me of that time a corporate party was held as a Confederate era-style Ball on an old plantation and the lone Black guy went as a slave.
