This is, if I remember correctly, what started the dystopia in one of the armored core continuities. On the one hand, billions, amounting to the overwhelming majority of the world’s population, will horrifically die. On the other, some people will pilot sweet-ass mechs in the next 50 years. Hard choice.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

A chance to pilot a mech?

[–] PenguinMage@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

This 100% was the backstory. And we already have the megacorps to take up the flag... ugh.

I want a yt lore drop

Or at least know what you're referencing.

Oh. Oh that's pretty good. And probably genuinely why they did it.

“spooked” journalism is wild.

When you lack journalistic integrity, everything is permissible.

Have you seen Democratic leadership lately? Spooked is pretty apt.

Feeling a tingling in their pinky toes

“Such a move would risk putting weapons in the wrong hands and harming the nation’s defense, Democratic Senator Ed Markey explained in a letter to President Trump last week”

lmao they literally wrote trump a letter. It’s like they read comments about people roasting dems for being completely ineffective and then go “hmm yeah okay let’s do that”.

like do you think trump will read a letter. Do you think trump will read anything.

They should probably ask the makers of the Teletubbies to create a video for him.

"spooked"

It would mildly inconvenience me to die in nuclear fire. I hope they find a better solution, but it's going to be what it's going to be.

So after declaring nuclear an "n-word", Trump's decided to go around giving people an n-word pass?

It's spooky season 👻 America is giving away plutonium, which can be used in nuclear weapon. Democrats are spooked!

Time to rewatch Jericho

Gotta get rid of it somehow after the warhead reductions, and Savannah River hasn't been proving itself very effective. I still think MOX fuel is the best option but overall has just been mishandled because MOX really needs to be tied in with a robust reprocessing effort like France has (frankly giving it to France would likely be preferable). The idea that people will reprocess MOX fuel to get to the plutonium seems kind of silly to me. If they had a secret PUREX reprocessing plant to get to plutonium and a reactor, then they can just make their own damn weapons grade plutonium just like North Korea did.
