What I just read in that article was a very tactful response. Certainly didn't justify firing.

They are preemptively bowing to fascism

MSM cant afford to lose a conservative base, since all the msms are owned by conservatives themselves.

He violated MSNBC policy by speaking the truth.

[–] DreamAccountant@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

No. He did speak the truth.

There's an unwritten rule on all billionaire platforms. Everybody knows what it is.

You can't be happy about the deaths of billionaires, the corporate class, or their propagandists. Even if they poisoned your dog that morning, you're still expected to say "I don't agree with your opinion, sir".

Well, fuck that. I'm glad that killer is out there. They make me feel safe. I hope, in the future, they continue to make me feel safe. Yet reality is probably more like "Oops, I missed the ear this time!"

None of that should make sense, but it does.

During MSNBC’s coverage of Kirk’s shooting, anchor Katy Tur asked Dowd about “the environment in which a shooting like this happens.” Dowd responded with the following about Kirk: “He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”

They fired him for that? What did he have to do to keep his job in that situation, pull out Kirk's corpse and fellate it? A fascist got what he spent his life working to deserve. It's the crowning achievement of his life work to build a stochastically terrorized society that can be bent to the whim of billionaires and autocrats. There's no need to pussyfoot around like this is a national tragedy unless you are more interested in upholding the status quo than you are in reporting. Oh. Right...

There was a school shooting yesterday and we're supposed to feel bad about a fascist?

[–] DreamAccountant@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Fascist propagana channel Fox will run 800 stories about the nazi getting a long distance neck piercing, but will never, ever show the school shooting.

They don't expect you to feel anything, since you have a brain.

They expect their followers to follow their very plainly stated and very often repeated fictional stories. They know exactly what bullshit they can sell and what they can't, because they monitor it all day long. Every day. It's their job, and their billionaire overlord demands results.

You're not the target audience of their bullshit.

MSNBC: We're sooooo liberal. But still owned by an asshole billionaire, so we just chop talent and stories like a billionaire's instant whim.

I don't care who Matthew Dowd is, but I'm going to look for more of his away from MSNBC.

I don't think I should apologize for being happy that a extremist nazi preacher is dead, and neither should Matthew Dowd. It's rare that truly evil people are stopped from spreading religious hate. This was a person that openly stated that he wanted me dead. Many times. And taught others the exact same hate.

Don't listen to the republican bullshit. They're the biggest hypocrites in the universe, spinning a narrative that makes them look good. "You can't kill nazis!". Yeah. We do. Americans, that is. Americans are directly responsible for the deaths of many hundreds of thousands of dead nazis. German nazis. Japanese nazis. Italian nazis. You can watch the celebration of hitler's death. Americans dancing in the street, parades. That's how Americans celebrate the death of nazis. It's right there in history.
