Unfortunately, there after a lot of photoshopped/ generated / cut images so it is really hard to tell if there were many people on trump's show. I wished people would post the real photos instead of such obviously fake shit.

To spell it out for y'all, it's a joke number.

86 means to stop, get rid of, or kill.

47 is the trump president number.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 12 points 8 hours ago

It's worth mentioning that the entire DC Metro area is roughly 6 Million people. Calling this a small turnout for a city that size, let alone the whole country, is an understatement.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 8 hours ago

Jesus. That's way lower than the generous estimate I considered credible enough from /r/theydidthemath yesterday.

[–] solsangraal@piefed.zip 16 points 13 hours ago

i expected more gullible shitlipped cult sheeple

This comment section is perfect proof that most people literally don't read news, and have the memory and attention span of a golden retirever puppy.

Ok that makes this way funnier

Love how MTG points out how bad democrats are by pointing out DT had two assassination attempts. Fails to mention both were by registered and very openly loud repubs.

Lol I don't analyze every number I see and... like... scan my brain's data storage for 30 seconds to see if it match anything.

[–] Nelots@lemmy.zip 3 points 8 hours ago

I'm sure I've also seen some news articles you haven't, its kinda hard to keep up with literally every single piece of news, especially something as inconsequential as that.

Hell, I had never even heard of the term 86 before today, and I know I'm not the only one in the comments that hadn't.

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 24 points 15 hours ago

The wind of the collective whoooosh from people missing the joke could be a new major source of renewable energy.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 56 points 20 hours ago

This is the sphere in Las Vegas it holds a standing room capacity of 20,000 people or about 2.3x more people than attended Donny’s birthday flop parade.

Bernie was there!?!? See him there? In the front row? He may be hard to spot. He looks grumpy in this totally real and unedited photo.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 145 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I didn't realize he had to sit across from empty seats, that's fucking glorious

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 55 points 19 hours ago

Did you completely miss Bernie photoshopped in?

[–] WaterSword@discuss.tchncs.de 157 points 22 hours ago (4 children)

Fyi: here’s the unaltered image

[–] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 12 points 10 hours ago (3 children)

Who's he saluting? You didn't serve donny, now sit down

[–] El_Scapacabra@lemmy.zip 1 points 42 minutes ago (1 children)

Maybe there's a North Korean general across the street?

[–] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 1 points 2 minutes ago

You could be right but I thought he assumed other positions for dictators. You know, down on all fours like a dog ready to "accept" the supreme leader

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 8 hours ago

Like it or not, he is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Literally the highest ranking officer in the military.

[–] bathing_in_bismuth@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

What presidents post WW2 did serve?

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 4 points 8 hours ago

what president post WW2 pretend they did?

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 22 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I’ve seen neater lines from middle school marching bands. What the actual fuck.

[–] Bristingr@lemm.ee 4 points 7 hours ago

It was the Army's way of protesting this shit too.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 13 hours ago

Yeah they were just kinda shuffling along.

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 98 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (3 children)

This pic is cropped so you can't see the empty lawn just passed the people by the fence they couldn't see over.

Edit - Here is newsweeks slightly less cropped version and all the empty space is clearly visible.

Edit 2 - Here is a NYT photo that really shows how few people really showed up.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 35 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (2 children)

He looks so pathetic standing there saluting while everybody else is seated around him.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 43 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Especially since those troops are representing the Vietnam War. You know, the know he dodged the draft for.

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 14 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Oh was that the moment they played 'fortunate son'?

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 5 points 12 hours ago

He was born on 3rd and thinks he hit a triple.

[–] albert180@piefed.social 7 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

There are bootloads of Things you can blame Trump for, but dodging the draft for such an unnecessary stupid war is something everyone remotely intelligent person would have done if capable

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 6 points 10 hours ago

The people I rate highest were those who openly said they weren't going for moral reasons. Muhammed Ali couldn't fight for years because he had religious reasons the government refused to acknowledge. Others went to Canada or Sweden.

Next are people like Bill Clinton. Had a valid student deferment and talked about how bad the war was.

Further down are people who used legal means, but were silent.

Lowest are people like Bush Jr. who finagled his way into the National Guard [and bailed on his last year] and Trump who lied about his medical condition. Both of these two were happy to have other people die to defend their right to be a rich kid.

[–] Laser@feddit.org 15 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (2 children)

It's not only about that he dodged it, but the fact that he now has this stupid parade after dodging (and still not admitting that he was only able to dodge on a falsified doctor's note that he got because he comes from a rich family). Either you think the military is stupid, then dodging the draft makes sense, but the parade doesn't or the other way around. He's just doing both which is hypocritical. Not surprising though

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Many dodged the war out of principle but the orange joker did it because he thought those who didn't were, "Suckers and Losers".

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 7 points 12 hours ago

And the icing on the cake is that while in a cemetery of vets, called them "losers" and "suckers" according to General Kelly.

Pathetic.

Nice job on our military for following orders but making it very obvious they don't give a flying fuck about drumpf's lousy birthday. Now that is exactly what I wanted to see-- out of step marching (they absolutely know how to march perfectly, it's literally drilled into them), old ass machinery, and never once saying HB to that ass-clown, they made it about the army instead. Niiice

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 25 points 19 hours ago

Old military equipment is part of any parade though, the tank in the photo is a ww2 Sherman.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 99 points 1 day ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (7 children)

My home town has an annual 4th of july parade. They feature the High School's marching band, about a dozen firetrucks from nearby cities, and about 160 vehicles total. The local flight school flies a loose formation of 5 Cessna 150s over the route.

Attendance is usually between 10,000 and 12,000.

All the mainstream media is reporting 250,000 because some trump official Xcreated that. Maybe if you include the No Kings protests going on around the parade it's 250k
