Or find a buddy, and do a little shimmy ๐ŸŽถ

Or just cut the tie.

A small enough zipper pull from a jacket would probably work as a shim

It is harder to do this with the newer metal tooth variety. The tooth digs into the tail where you need to tighten, avoid back pressure, and really need a knife to get under the tooth reliably.

Ah crap, thanks for the info! I think I'll swap out the images since the slipping out one might be more relevant then.

Unfortunately, police zip ties are much thicker, and likely resist that method.

Well I'll be damned!

Though someone in the comments of that video mentioned that the dual cuff zip tie (which I didn't know about until now) are much harder to use that method on, and now I'm guessing the other methods I posted may not be as effective against those either. I'm unsure of how common the dual type have been at protests.

Yeah, having 2 locks makes it so you can't apply the pressure to a single failure point.

What makes this technique work is making sure it's tight AND having the lock centrally located so all the pressure bears down on it.

With 2 locks offset like that? Probably wouldn't work. Also probably why they designed it that way.

Interesting. I wonder if you could slam your wrists down on your thigh with each wrist on either side. You'd basically be trying to rip the cords out from the end. Couldn't find any videos defeating these but found one sales video showing 400lbs tensile strength. so you wouldn't be able to just pull them apart without trying to manipulate the locking mechanism as a point of failure.

Is there another method for if your hands are tied behind your back?
