Shooting at UAVs with your own aircraft in the same space would be very in character.
Whatever that is, it wanted to be seen. It looks like thereβs light in the main rotor.

I think blaster fire in Star Wars was inspired by how tracer rounds looked in WW2 footage. That, or my brain just hallucinated a memory about reading something, I wouldn't rule that out.
I don't recall reading that but it would make sense, because I'm very sure they modeled the fighter action in space based on dogfights from WWII.
Although real tracers dont look exactly like that to the naked eye because of how cameras work. Also depends on the tracer and the range at which you're shooting ofc, but I've shot tracers with an assault rifle and it's essentially just a spark which flies, not a line like it is in movies. Cameras makes them seem more like they do in star wars.
It's much the same as with aurora borealis. You can take a photo with your phone and see colours in it but when you're looking at it with your naked eye and it isn't too bright, you're using the B&W photoreceptors which we use at night, so it's not that colourful.
Tldr real life effects suck

Really stupid question that I always think about when footage like this shows up - where do the bullets/shells go that miss? Obviously they come back down, but this looks somewhat populated. I would assume friendly fire or collateral damage is a real thing, but I never hear about it.
Not a dumb question at all. When AA guns miss, the bullets eventually fall back down, often tumbling, which slows them down but doesnβt make them harmless. Even tumbling rounds can injure or kill. Collateral damage does happen but often goes unreported due to censorship or lack of clear attribution.
There's a lot of stories of bullets coming down (of course they do that, it's basic physics) and hitting stuff and people.
The helicopter gave zero fucks.

That was definitely a UAP. Sounds like they shot enough that they should have hit it!
