OHHH this all makes sense suddenly. Curtis fucking Yarvin the dweeb-villain himself is behind this. Everyone should be aware of the technofeudalist plan to destroy America as we know it and turn it into a network state with monarch-like ultra-authoritarian "CEOs" of each country. Oh and btw Peter Thiel is fully bought into this (there are dozens of verified comms between them), and Thiel owns Vance. So when Trump dies, this is their ultimate plan.

You jest, but these are egomaniacs that believe they are the harbingers and rulers of a new world. I'm not saying it's true, however it is totally within the realm of possibility that, at this point, they view their actions as terraforming.
Why can't we just... like... terraform our current environment? Y'know, like, cleaning the air, soil, and water...? Right...?
I know the answer is because it's not profitable.
