Anything mediterranean isn't white in traditional American Racism(tm). In fact, even Irish people weren't considered completely white for the longest time.

The thing about the whole "us vs them" mentality is that you can always go more specific about who "us" is until you've got like 5 superior human beings and everyone else is subhuman.

It never made sense and never will. That's racism for you.
