Didn't we used to have to sign the receipt that the store keeps, and they give us a copy to keep for our records?Or an e-signature on an electronic device. Is this still a thing? Or do I just not get out much lately?

Maybe it's just a restaurant thing. I literally haven't been to a restaurant since 2023.

I think in most of Europe, signing stopped when magnetic stripes were phased out and replaced by chip cards that require a PIN. That happened around 2008-2010, think?

Technically, it's still possible to bypass the PIN, but in that case, the business has the full responsibility for any misuse, so almost no one allows it and the few that do usually require seeing an ID along with a signature. I think in the US it's a bit different?

Here in France, I can't remember ever doing that. And I've had a credit card in francs.
