Known Issues

Posts created in portrait mode automatically rotate to landscape mode. This is something across Lemmy that seems to be known. To address, the image must have the correct metadata, not just rotated in your camera roll before uploading.

Spending my evening trying to identify a seemingly obscure piece of boom shackle tackle.

Or, more specifically, a boom vang that seems to have a harness that goes around the boom, instead of a bracket that attaches to the boom.

Can't seem to find the right words to describe it ... but the existing one is fraying & could fail.

@kboyd @sailing

Okay, that would be weird, but I can see someone doing it. Do those two pieces of stainless just hook into the boltrope slot? If so, then yes, I think you are correct.

@Amgine @sailing It seems they do, yes. In hindsight I should have tried to see if they were easy to unclip. (That would be my expectation, and would simplify repairs if so.)

@kboyd @sailing

That will certainly make it easier to repair, or remove, if it works that way. Another way it may work is as a sort of shim, sliding into the bolt rope slot and with thinned edges - but that will likely require removing the boom from the gooseneck to remove it.

@Amgine @sailing uh oh. That would be "cut the strap and screw a proper bail or weld an attachment point in its place" territory, IMHO.
