If this is the best that Democrats can put forward in 2028, we deserve to lose.
Not to defend the weakness that they offer, they do it for other reasons too, but I don't know if a stronger candidate would survive the system or the public. It's a Catch-22 that's led to this pattern, someone who wants to improve things gets attacked from all sides and fails. Carlin said it's GIGO, this is the best we can get from the society we have, but I think it's also a feedback loop. You can't use the same broken system to fix itself, it has to be done externally.
It is a fair point, someone with a better record of supporting workers and marginalized communities may have less of a shot. But I still believe that we should use the time that we have to find the best candidate possible. Newsom is hopefully not the best that we can find.
