I am skeptical of things that sound too good to be true, and also I feel like the current US government would fuck it up, but maybe things won't be terrible forever.

What do you mean by "flat"? A circle is by definition two dimensional.

It means you get to view the circle side-on, and watch history oscillate back and forth like the red light on KITT from Knight Rider, or the Cylon eye.
