It’s the first sentence:

Blood samples from 115 dairy workers in Michigan and Colorado reveal cases of the highly pathogenic bird  flu have been occurring undetected in humans.

But that means we detected it.

I think it might have been trying to say that it has been detected that it has been undetected. Which is to say that we are now aware that up until now it was here without us knowing that it was here, not that we have both detected and undetected it in a sort of quantum bird flu detection sort of way.
