was replying to that, Just saying that celebrating another country isn't necessarily bad, an outward claim like that can be racist. Zionism bad. but I'm afraid of statements that might be racist dogwhistles.
Celebrating a genocidal state is never s good thing. It is like celebrating Nazi germany. Like I said there is multiple real jewish culture events
I think we're accidentally stuck in a loop where we're both in agreement.
Fuck zionism in all of it's forms, it shouldn't get parades.
I just wanted to add a caveat that it is 100% ok to celebrate the cultural heritage of communities in your city. And "Israel" isn't one of those.
Because the original statement could be misconstrued into a xenophobic statement. I assume it wasn't, but still, that should be said.
And again, FUCK ZIONISM. Fuck it with a syphilitic cactus. Just got banned from a community for saying Fuck zionism in a more colorful language.
Personal, I'm dedicating so much of my energy fighting zionism, I'm literally building a local Bund revival, as well as weekly protests and help organize Palestinian events. So please, don't assume I'm a zionist.
Your caveat is off topic . This post is about celebraring israel not judaism. Yet you keep repeating the same off topic statement that have nothing to do neither with the post and neither with the person you replied to.
I never called you a zionist either
not really off topic, claims like people should celebrate foreign States can be iffy.
Polish are allowed to celebrate polish heritage, Thai communities are entitled to their events. Israel does not. not just because it's a genocidal state. but because it doesn't has a major diaspora.
Off topic because the article and the comment was about celebrating a foreign country and not about celebrating a culture or heritage. Current genocidal countries should not be celebrated. None of the country you mentioned are currently colonizing other and actively doing genocide .
I'm being extra paranoid, because sometimes racist reactionaries try to infiltrate antizionist spaces. I've seen it, and it's dangerous.
Nothing indicate that it was the case
Any claims about people celebrating their heritage is a bit sus. not outright wrong in this case. but sus
