Rules
AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).
NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.
Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.
Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

Do what comes natural to you and you enjoy doing tf outta and do it all the time. People don't understand this mastery ish is logarithmic; I have gone through several escarpments in capability over the twelve years I've done this near-daily, and I jist gained the ability to guarantee that I can hit near perfect line length the way I do just prior to last year. And it's still going up!
Eventually I'd like to be able to write meter off the top of my head without thinking about it too much. In the meantime, if I spend a good chunk of time agonizing over a line I can put it into meter. (I think)
"Come all beasts from west and east let's have a feast of bacon grease"
:)
Eventually I'd like to write more to songs and play and compose my own melodies.
At the moment I'm a broke joke of a star who can't afford their landlord, let alone a guitar
:(
I'm in a similar boat; difficult circumstances with my life partner. I once thought I would pop into fame being a juggler and have a job being a cop, which is the magick God used on me to get me to do my spiritual work and heal. Now I'm a juggler, educator, and a skilled righter and I know I am where I need to be for the biggest picture across eternity; which is on a trajectory with a steep positive slope.
The Buddha said enlightenment is its own reward. You don't transcend physicality for the iddhi (magick), you do it because it is what you're most meant to do, to live your ideal life and be happy making others happy. Only you know what that is, so figure out an azimuth between where you are and where you are going and how fast you can travel, keeping in mind consistency is more important than moments of spontaneous word conjuring, though the most creative things we create do just fall out of our heads at times, which happens at a greater frequency the more you practice.
The best way to integrate the habit of casual free-form anything is to tie it with something you already do. I used to run track and cross-country, and when I was playing something like Paper Mario that had a "Pit of 100 Challenges" type dungeon, I would do a set of push-ups, or sit-ups, squats - just one "rep" per floor, whatever that is - and then do a big "set" at the treasure chest floors, which I would run around the block. I did this with juggling and writing, too, which directly benefited one another, being complements of creative activity.
It won't take too long before you will see something else you can do with what you're doing, and then you will merge those together, and doors start opening up. Share your art, and market it keeping in mind how attention works (a strategic typo alone can net thousands of views), and you will manifest something for yourself, which only you can determine.
Its funny you bring up video game mechanics as a thought device for real life. When I think of a longterm challenge I can slowly chip away at, like a savings or payment plan, building skills and experience, or even a long walk, I think about all those times I pulled off a long grind in Runescape haha.
Paper Mario was one of my favorite games as a kid haha. My life transformed for a while but I always held on to the nerd memories. I imagined like I was living in Fallout a lot of the time.
