Ok this sounds crazy, but I am experiencing a very weird issue. If I try to open certain communities, I get the message 'failed to load more posts'.

Now I might be seeing a pattern where there isn't one, but it seems to me like it happens on communities that have 'ru' at the start of their names, like c/Rust, c/Russia, c/Ruby, and basically every other 'ru...' community I tried. What is going on?

This is happening in all the types of feeds in the past 2-3 days. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how do I fix this ?

About 5 - 10 % of images on my feed don't load, but show this error. Any idea what's going on? On android.

Hello,

I would like to see the server's name on posts, even when I'm on a post or a community that belongs to the same server I am using.

Here is my reasoning:

  • I have multiple accounts, I don't always remember which server I'm on.
  • I am on relatively small servers, so I don't see very many posts from my own server, which leads to confusion when I see one as I can't figure out where it comes from.
  • for uniformity?

Is this something you'd consider?

In quite a few of the communities I subscribe to, a portion of the content is provided by bots reposting items from corresponding subreddits. This is often useful, but it'd be helpful to have a filter that would show only "native" Lemmy posts, since these tend to attract more dialog.

Perhaps this could be done by looking for the presence of Reddit URLs in the post text, and/or by triggering on common strings such as "rss" or "bot" in the username.

Thanks for building such a great app.

my favorite feature from reddit has to be the custom feeds option. It helps so much to filter/separate all the news & politics from other topics I’m interested in. Is there any way to do that on Voyager?? 🙏🏼😣

I just realized that when I hide read posts, they remain hidden for the rest of time with no option to revert that. I would love to add such an option, or even to make “hide read posts” a temporary thing.

I think it would be a helpful feature to have the text of a post or comment be brought into Google Translate. If you could click on the … symbol/long press options for a post or comment and had one of the top option be translate which opens the text of the post title or comment in Google Translate, within the app. BlueSky has a feature like this why I find helpful, and I believe Apollo had a feature like this back in the day. It would be handy to have this as a feature to help improve engagement and breakdown communication barriers.

I am currently using Voyager for Lemmy on Android. I don't see any posting icon to make or create a post?? Am I missing something here lol.

I'm curious what you Android users think of the Android vs Apple theme for the Voyager app.

  • Which one do you prefer?
  • Which one do you think should be the default for new/novice users? Why?

This would be the default, but don't worry, you will always be able to choose. I would also like to note that in the future Voyager will have a Material 3 theme, but not yet!

Thanks for your help!

Edit: thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I’ll probably make android the default theme on android for new users.

I am scrolling All, I have scrolled a long way, and I tap on a post.

Then I’m done, I tap < Back, and then accidentally tap < Communities

I end up on this screen:

In Apollo, I used to be able to swipe the bottom of the screen to get right back where I am.

In Voyager, I can only get back by tapping All in the list.

I return to All, but I’m back at the top and lose my scrolling progress.

When I want to download an image while on voyager; I tap on the image, select save image from the options menu, then it says photo saved. If it is saving them, then I can't find them, because they're not in my downloads, pictures, or camera photos.

Where are they, and how do I get them?

Update: Thanks for all the replies, it seems in my frustration, I didn't check how the filder waa sorted.

My phone (/e/os fp5) has a bad habit of defulting the sorting to alphanumeric

Thanks again

I was wondering, in the Voyager App, for posts, what is the smiley face with 100% next to it.

I looked everywhere, but was unable to find any information about it

Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to ask. I really like voyager, it makes accessing lemmy very easy and aesthetic for someone who's new to fediverse.

There's a small feature I think would greatly enhance the experience:

Two wide buttons - (save) & (share), just below the image, whenever a user clicks on the image.

Like how bluesky does it. (I can't upload a reference image as I am still new to lemmy)

It would make things so much more intuitive and I love to download images. It's one thing I didn't like about reddit - Saving images was a pain in the ass.

Hey there!

I just published Voyager's new promo site at https://getvoyager.app/. This site is intended to be an easy way to share the app with your friends and family. Let me know what you think! I'm hoping to roll out a couple more improvements to user onboarding soon™️, so stay tuned.

In other news, I hope you like the latest app update! ICYMI: the video player was significantly revamped, you can now upload videos (assuming lemmy instance support: keep reading...), and Android users can now long press links to preview the url, as well as for share/copy/open options.

https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/releases/tag/2.26.0

Speaking of videos: If you've ever wondered why videos sometimes fail to play in iOS, it's because many Lemmy instances are misconfigured. Please share this site I just published with your Lemmy admin to help debug issues: https://aeharding.github.io/lemmy-streaming Around 50% of instances are misconfigured 😳 so I really appreciate your help on getting the word out to admins! 🫡

Can we have a feature to disable JavaScript for privacy reasons or maybe to bypass paywalls

18

I love the hide seen messages button on my general feeds. But it’s missing from when I’m browsing a single community. Would be really cool if it was there too.

I just want to filter Nicole out. That’s all.

Thank you.

Unaware if it’s intentional or is part of some sort of design aesthetic, but Voyager really gives me the Apollo for Reddit UI/UX vibes and I love it! :D

Also, R.I.P. Apollo for Reddit 😇

This is the only feature I want. :)

22

I looked through the posts here, and the various threads on the git. Saw that the feature was implemented, but doesn't appear in my settings?

Just wondering if it was axed, never actually got rolled into main, or was rolled back due to stuff?

I keep hearing of people who have used Lemmy for a few days or a few weeks and want to start using a mobile version – often Voyager.

They open Voyager for the first time, and get a screen with a button for logging in. They get a choice for which Lemmy instance to join, but no place for entering their existing username or password.

I've told them that "in the first screen there is a button that is very difficult to notice, allowing you to use a pre-existing Lemmy username. Find that semi-hidden button, click it, and you can login."

It is of course a working workaround to pre-emptively tell people that the button exists, is just very well hidden, and needs to be clicked by most people who download Voyager. But still, it would be cool if the screen for new users could be altered so that the ability to log in with a pre-existing username was equally visible as the choice to create a new account!

I am pretty sure i was hiding upvoted posts, so i could reduce the clutter in my front page and get to new stuff faster.

But now i can see upvoted posts again and i cant find any option that hides them(am i blind).

In any mode but light mode the quoted text bar is nearly invisible which makes makes reading posts with quoted text a challenge.

I would love an option to change the color of the quoted text bar, or barring that, it would be nice if the default color of the bar were easier to see on dark mode.

Thanks!
