Late last week, Torched's Alissa Walker broke a story about LAX getting construction underway on a massive roadway expansion. When complete, it will send even more cars into the already gridlocked central "horseshoe" roadway. Widening the roads leading into an unchanged horseshoe will, you guessed it, worsen congestion in the horseshoe.

Found lost elderly dog in hills between Riverside and Moreno Valley

I found this poor blind senior terrier(?) yesterday in the hills above the Riverside STEM Academy (at 33.966189, -117.309286).

He had a hard time walking, so I had to carry him back to my car and at one point peed blood on me, so I believe he's pretty ill. 😞

None of the neighbors I talked to knew him, and animal control had me bring him to the emergency vet in Grand Terrace. The vet couldn't find a chip, but I'm really hoping that this guy wasn't dumped and can be reunited with his owner!

Does anyone know if the original Los Angeles Drink & Draw still happens every Thursday at Casey’s Pub downtown? They’ve always been pretty shit at maintaining their social media, so it’s kind of hard to tell.

The 2028 Olympics are coming to Los Angeles as a multi-billion dollar operation funded by massive private and federal government investments and backed by city and state pledges to cover cost overruns.

The current privately funded budget for the Games is more than $7 billion. The federal government has agreed to chip in $1 billion to pay for security and is being asked to contribute another $2 billion to pay for Games-specific transit plans.

But the city of L.A.'s financial exposure is essentially unlimited. The city is on the hook for the first $270 million in losses, if they occur. The California Legislature has agreed to make statewide taxpayers pick up the next $270 million. After that, any additional financial burden will fall on Los Angeles taxpayers.

With my office being in Little Tokyo, I usually grab sushi or ramen when eating out, but this Reuben kicked ass and I'm glad I gave this spot a try.

What do you all think about this article?

I will agree the A line isn't exactly amazing, but I also don't completely agree with some assertions and experiences from the author. The author mentions how long it takes to get to the extremes of the A line, but the A line isn't exactly meant to travel across vast distances quickly, its meant to provide connections along its routes. I do agree it would be nice to go from Pasadena to long beach very quickly, (in the same way with the E line being able to get to santa monica from East LA quicker), but we'd need to develop an additional tracks to allow faster service and/or priority to the line. Those can be done later. It feels like for a lot of LA's history, creating train lines is important because of how hard it is to do, and how much harder it will be in the future.

I don't quite agree with the author's bad experiences on the A line. Yeah there are definitely bad times where the train smells horrible, or weird alarm things happen, but it is extremely rare in my experience and hasn't dissuaded me from using it.

Six leaders of the Mexico-based La Luz del Mundo megachurch — including its current "apostle," Naasón Joaquín García, his mother and four associates — are facing federal charges of racketeering, child pornography and sex trafficking, under a recently unsealed indictment. Maximum penalties for some of the offenses include life in prison.
