Considering China has been going hard at getting their own chip fab up and running, I think at this point taking Taiwan would just be a flex more than trying to capture manufacturing resources.

Do they mean tungsten? Because titanium is a relatively soft metal, with the alloys used for jewelry being like 20-40 on the Rockwell C scale.

Mild steel is about in the same range.

You seem to forget that some people actually prefer to rent than own. I know people who have sold their houses and moved into apartments because they were sick of the hassle, risk, and expense of home ownership.
