Felony murder. If someone dies in the commission of a felony, even if it’s one of your accomplices and an accident, they can charge you with felony murder in the US. This might just be some right wing influencer mouthing off, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility if they decide they can charge her with a felony in relation to whatever she did at that traffic stop. The administration seems to be trying to provoke violence as a pretext for something, and this could be a means to that end.

The reason the Trump administration immediately started lying so aggressively about this case is because they know Renee is a very sympathetic victim, even (or especially) for their own voters. More so than most of ICE’s victims so far, for obvious reasons. I love how her family keeps emphasizing that she was a Christian.
