Actually the Star Trek comparison is apt because in the lore, humanity had to almost destroy itself before achieving post-scarcity.
I think the final form of this conflict is dead internet theory territory.
It’s another scenario that is hard to predict the end game because AI at this scale has not been seen before.
Lying to the public has been a thing since government existed.
It’s just more blatant now.
