This is one of the most overhyped technologies ever, it is literally just a more complicated algorithm as the ones found on Youtube or Instagram for content reccomendation or auto correct algorithms. We do not need this much compute power, the secret is in the money as usual. This is all just one giant scheme to generate as much revenu as possible for these companies, the fact that all these municipalities are falling for it is either laughable or scary. Even from a Macchievellian point of view, there's nothjng long term about this. Once the bubble pops it's over, all these data centers will be rendered useless or at the very least their capacity will not be fully exploited. All this so a few guys at the top can make a fuck ton of money. It's pathetic.

Yes, I love netslop
I reccomend you start with a vps, local pc is possible but in any case(in my personal experience at least) you'll need a public IP anyways(which is hella expensive for personal use). In any case, you'll have to get a vps. I suggest you check out Contabo. Good prices, pretty ok for hardware related things. I'd suggest you start Nextcloud, a website, very basic stuff. If you are planning to use a local pc, be advised that power will be a big factor. Unless you want to have to pay a lot on your electricity bill, avoid hosting too many things on your local pc(unless you want to have full control over your data, but I personally think if you apply basic cybersec principles, a VPS is fine). I do understand though, despite that it's not fully reccomended, I want to locally host my own mail server to have full control. It comes down to personal preferences and how much control you want.
I am not hating on AI per se, it's more so how it's being used and how ridiculous it is.
I agree, we can't neccesarily get rid of AI, but at the very leastm before we implement such technologies fully, we should look towards the pros and cons of such a technology.
I don't disagree with AI use, I however fucking hate slop.
edit: Had to correct something lol
Of course we can get rid of video entertainement, it's more so a question of principle and shows the impeding failure of our own economic system.
The product becomes abstract, and we're going to be served more ads on other abstract products which will just continue the cycle.
It's depressing.
